  1. Thank you for trying the TWorldMap Component Demo!  We hope that you
  2. will find this component useful in creating impressive geographic front
  3. ends to your applications. The demo component will not run without delphi
  4. running and the map contains a banner stating evaluation use only.  No
  5. other features or capabilities have been disabled in the demo version.
  6. The release version comes with 2 additional data files 1 with greater
  7. detail and one with lower detail, and a users manual.
  8.  
  9. The demo will work after the component has been installed.  The demo
  10. source code is in the wmap\source directory.

  12. Component Installation
  13.  
  14. Installing the TWorldMap component in the Delphi IDE:
  15.  
  16. 1.  To install the component, select Options | Install Components from
  17. Delphi's menu.  Click the Add button to open the Add Module dialog box.
  18. Click the Browse button to open the Add Module file selection dialog box.
  19. Select the full drive and directory name path to the worldmap.dcu or
  20. worldmap.pas file and click the OK button. For example, if you accepted
  21. the default installation directory of c:\wmap, you would select
  22. c:\wmap\worldmap.dcu.
  23.  
  24. 2.  Install the TWorldMap on-line help files:
  25. Copy the file WMAP.HLP  from the \wmap\help directory to your
  26. existing \delphi\bin directory.  Copy the file  WMAP.KWF from the 
  27. \wmap\help directory to your existing \delphi\help directory.  From
  28. the Windows Program Manager, run the Delphi Help File Installer
  29. program (HelpInst), located in your Delphi Program Group.   Click the
  30. Open an existing HDX file button or select the File and Open... menu
  31. options and open file DELPHI.HDX in your \delphi\help directory.
  32. Click the Add a new keyword file button or select the Keywords and Add
  33. Keyword File... menu options and add file WMAP.KWF, located in
  34. your \delphi\help directory, to the list of keyword files being
  35. displayed.  Click the Compile and save the current HDX file button
  36. or select the File and Save menu options to save and compile the
  37. modified HDX file. Depending on your CPU, this process may take up
  38. to 30 seconds. Close the Help File Installer window or select the File
  39. and Exit menu options to terminate the program.

  41. 3.  If you plan on using the map component in project directories other
  42. than the original install directory, you will need to add the following
  43. statement to you Delphi.ini file.  With any text editor or the
  44. DELPHI IDE, open the file DELPHI.INI in the WINDOWS directory.  At the
  45. end of the file add the following lines:
  46.  
  47. [TWorldMap]
  48. Mapdir=D:\wmap\data  {or where ever you installed the map data files}
  49.  
  50. Save and Close the DELPHI.INI file.  This entry will tell each instance
  51. of the map component to look in this directory for the map datafiles.
  52. This prevents the need for multiple copies of the map data files
  53. throughout the system.  If the designated data file resides in the
  54. current project  directory, it will be used first.
  55.  
  56. NOTE:  The installation will add this entry to your DELPHI.INI if you
  57.        select YES when prompted.

  61.   Due to manpower considerations we will not be able to man help desk
  62.   initially.  We have attempted to provide the best product possible.
  63.   Due to the large number of hardware/software configurations represented,
  64.   the component may not always operate as expected. If you experience any
  65.   problems with the component we will provide technical assistance to
  66.   registered users only for original component and source.  We will
  67.   not provide assistance to developers who have modified the source

  80. WINDOWS 95 USERS!
  81.  
  82. I am currently developing under WIN95, and all testing has been without
  83. incident.  I plan to release a WIN95 version as after the 16 bit
  84. version is on its way.  I am currently working on the Delphi 2.0 version.
  85. The BETA 1 for worldmap32 is on my WEB PAGE and on Compuserve.  Use the
  86. keyword worldmap to search the Delphi Libraries.

  93. DEPLOYING APPLICATIONS WITH THE WORLDMAP COMPONENT

  95. There are no runtime fees or royalties required when you purchase the Map
  96. component or data files.  You may distribute any or all data files with
  97. any application created using the registered map component.

  99. LICENSING ISSUES
  100.  
  101. There are no additional licensing requirements associated with the map
  102. component other than one rule:  ONE LICENSED COMPONENT per simultaneous
  103. project.  This is a small consideration in lieu of the cost of current
  104. map software and their licensing issues, not to mention runtime royalties.
  105. We understand the need for multiple copies on machines on the same project.
  106. If you are developing more than one project at the same time we ask that you
  107. purchase enough copies to cover the different projects.
